| | A Series of Fortunate Events:
-I had movies due at the library, but I still had 3 pretty thick books so I almost just sent them with Dad and didn't go. Decided I would maybe like a new movie after all, and went with.
-While briefly browsing the YA section, I frowned at the messy sight of books left all over the place, sitting at the ends of shelves.
-Then my stomach dropped out, as I realized that a lot of the shelves were looking emptier than usual, only about 75% full. Fearing that Maplewood was gearing up to do the same thing White Bear had done - a massive weeding & selling off - I flew to the book sale room to see if there were babies to rescue.
-There were not. HOWEVER. On my way to the YA section of said room, I glanced - just glanced - at a spinning rack of adult fiction paperbacks, and HOLY LORD, there was my beloved "Flying Changes" by Sara Gruen looking back at me. The same copy I first read two years ago and fell in love with, the best general adult fiction book I've ever read, one of my favorite books in THE ENTIRE WORLD.
-For a dollar! I've been hoping to find this book since the day I read it, even considered buying it new at one point to support the awesome author, but I just never got around to it. But now here it is! Mine! ALL MINE.
This seems to happen to me a lot in life, randomly stumbling across books I really want. It's kind of weird, yet awesome, like I have this little bibliophile guardian angel who looks out for my reading interests. It's about the only thing I have good luck with, but I'm certainly not going to argue!
Pity that they felt the need to rip off the bar code on the front (rather than just putting a black line through it), peeling off a chunk of the paper with it. So now I have this ugly white mar across the top...but it's okay. Maybe someday I'll replace it with a better version; for now the important thing is just that it's on my shelf. Ahhhhh!
*giddy*
